Watch out for instructions which might be damaging

Looks like a pretty simply pose doesn't it, but there's a lot going on, a lot that could be going on and a little that maybe shouldn't be going on.

Probably the most potentially damaging instruction is, "Square your hips to the long side of your mat." Ever heard that instruction? It's quite common.

For someone like my model Samantha this is an appropriate instruction. Because she is so open in her hips she can do it safely.

But for someone whose hips are little tight, when we try and square to the side we are unable to rotate the front leg out to a safe place and can end up damaging the knee.

In my 200 hour Veda Yoga Teacher Training Course we find out how to prevent knee damage by placing the feet appropriate to our hip position.
